O'SHEA Family History
O'Shea (Shea, Shee) is an Irish surname (an anglicized form of the Irish patronymic name Ó Séaghdha), originating in the Kingdom of Corcu Duibne in County Kerry.Shea/O'Shea/Shay= Originating in Counties Kerry and Cork, O'Shea came from O Se, coming the Irish Gaelic word seagdha, meaning hawk, but also has a secondary meaning of stately. They later moved north, west, and east into Tyrone, Louth, Mayo, Limerick, Galway, and Clare.

My Aunt is a geneologist with the Smithsonian and has told us our fourth great grandfather is Captain James Smith of Jamestown. With there being no relatives related to Native American Pocahontas. As this relationship is either fictitious or produce no offspring.

Visiting Ireland for the first time this summer and would love to find any relatives. My great great grandparents were Timothy and Mary, they had a daughter Magarite ( my great grandmother ) also a daughter Reginia. Had other children as well but I have no other information on them. I believe they were from Cork. They came to the US around the early 1900s and settled in San Francisco. Margarite married Frank Jordan and had my grandfather John in 1920. Margarite died around 1940 or so. Reginia married a man named Frank Thomas but never had children. Any one our there familiar with any of this? Thsnk you.

Hi, my name is John O'SHEA, born in the Curragh, Co. Kildare. My father Francis O'Shea was born in Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Waterford 1936. He had an uncle migrated to New York, in the twenties I think. It's my first time on this site (don't know what to expect) just curious? Love to hear from anyone that might have an insight.

I was born in Southern Africa, I would like to meet my fellow O'Shea family members, but I would also like to know my family history and how they have migrated to Cape Town, South Africa

(Part 1 of 3) The OโShea name has a long history in Ireland, but now DNA and some recorded history says its origin is from the south-west region of the Emerald Island. The OโShea story [dominated by DNA tribal marker R1b-L513, Subgroup O2] can trace their beginnings to what is now County Kerry from 50 BCE. Perhaps the journey begins with the Clanna Dedad; Deda, son of Sen or Deda Mac Sin. The OโShea surname origin is possibly a branch of what will become the Dรกirine [R1b-L513] who are found in south Ireland around 300 CE.
Anthony Barrett
(Part 2 of 3) According to research, the Dรกirine will join with the Dรกl Riata of north-east Ireland and invade Scotland around 500 CE. But how could this be? Recent discoveries from DNA testing are unlocking the migration patterns of Celtic tribes as late as 800 CE to 1200 CE. The OโShea story begins in pre-history Ireland but many of his descendants will then move to Kintyre, Scotland where they and other R1b-L513 members will form the Dalriada. This line and many of his kin will then travel to Brittany, France during the Dark Ages.

(Part 3 of 3) Discover their newly found untold story and how forgotten texts bring their story back to life. From the ebook, โThe Tribe Withinโ learn how DNA unfolds this amazing tale and if you look in the right places, how history narrates this evidence. There is another written account of their story, but it is camouflaged in smoke and myth โ it will become the tales of King Arthur.
